This is not the work out DVD you're looking for July 31, 2010 M. S. Books (Spring Hill, FL) I thought Jillian Michaels was a revolutionary trainer because of all the large and in charge people on The Biggest Loser that she's shrunk down. Well, she maybe but her work out DVD is the same old style of boring work outs and repetitive exercises that the work out DVD genre has always had. That and her "work out buddies" never once seem to be working out. You never see a drop of sweat, a grimaced expression, nothing. They all work out like smiling robots which means, THEY'RE NOT WORKING OUT!
I highly recommend getting The Biggest Loser: Boot Camp with Bob Harper and Biggest Loser: Weight Loss Yoga, also with Bob. It has real people, as in formerly obese people doing the exercises. They sweat, they strain, they even cheat on some of the movements. It feels like your working out with people who are going through hell right along with you.
Bottom line: Don't throw your money away on a old Hollywood style production work out DVD. This one needs to jump into a Delorian and travel back to the 80's so Jillian and her best gal pal work out buddies can get some neon colored leotards.
great tape! July 31, 2010 Margaret A. Schmidt (Salinas, CA) great tape for those who have little time in their lives to work out...I started this tape 2 weeks ago and so far the result are there. I can't wait to see my results after a couple of months!!
Great workout! Try Jillian's other DVD... July 29, 2010 Kitty Washington 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Loved this DVD! This is a great workout, and even as a fitness trainer, Level 1 got me to sweat. I did notice that some of the same exercises are repeated in levels 1, 2, and 3. If you want the "Level 4" version of this workout, buy Jillian's "Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism" DVD instead, and especially if you are already an intermediate/advanced exerciser, skip this one altogether and go for Banish Fat. I'm glad I bought that one instead.
Best $7 I have ever spent on fitness July 29, 2010 naheemhm This is the first and only Amazon review I have done, but I felt compelled bc this work out is terrific. After my third baby, my weight loss plateaued and I just could not get the last 10 pounds to budge, even when I was really watching what I was eating. The problem was that I was not doing enough exercise. Being a working mother of 3 small children, I needed something short but intense and effective. This is it! I have been doing "the shred" for 5 weeks and I have lost 7 pounds. I have been watching what I eat, but not starving myself by any means. Not only have I lost weight, but my muscle tone and general definition have noticeably increased - I have been getting compliments from everyone. It is so so so nice to feel like myself again. Yes, at moments you will hate Jillian, but if you stick to it, it really works. I do the work out 3-4 times per week and I'm currently on Level 2. My goal is to work up to Level 3 in a couple of weeks and stay there for at least a month. No matter what, I think it will always be a great work out to come back to. Definitely recommend you give it a try!!!
Living Prove July 28, 2010 Zmyal (South Bend, INDIANA United States) I am a living prove for this DVD. I have lost in total over 25lbs over 2 and half months. I have worked out 5 to 6 times a week. DO NOT be fooled, you need to lower your calories intake in order to achieve result. You cannot lose weight and keep the same eating habits that drove you to be overweight to begin with.
The people complaining about the music or that the workout is too tough, they are nothing less than idiots. You know Jillian and you know her style, she is not soft and you know it. About the music... who is listening? you need to focus on the workout not the music. I don't even hear the music!
Limit your daily calories intake to 1,400 calories
Work the "20 minutes" 6 to 7 times a week
Be honest with yourself! don't say "well I walked the dog today, then I do not have to workout" it DOES NOT work this way, and you know it.
if you belong to the lazy complainers of our society, don't even bother to buy this DVD.
